ACME Real Estate agent Stefany Gonalez talks with ShoutoutLA.
We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefany Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I initially began my business venture, it was partly because I wasn’t exactly thriving as an employee. Armed with a Master of Architecture, I landed a job at a real estate development firm. Although I enjoyed the work, my mind often wandered to dreams of owning a home furnishings store. Driven by this vision, I took the plunge. Within months of leaving my job, I opened my home furnishing store in NY’s Meatpacking District.
The early days were a whirlwind of learning. I had to swiftly master everything from design and renovation to stocking and managing the store. Those years were an intense learning curve, but they shaped my approach to the service industry and fueled my passion for interiors.
After relocating to the West Coast, I channeled my love for design and homes into a new venture as a real estate agent. Like retail, the essence of being a good agent lies in the customer experience. Though my business focus has shifted, the core philosophy remains the same: pursue what you love and make a meaningful impact on as many lives as possible.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Several years ago excited to dive back into home renovation, I embarked on a home-flipping venture with my mother. However, we quickly realized that the LA market was saturated with investors, making it difficult to establish a presence. Undeterred, I redirected my efforts to utilize my real estate license in helping others discover or design their dream homes. This shift allowed me to apply my expertise in guiding clients toward realizing their visions and making their ideal spaces a reality. With my architectural background, I offer a unique perspective on real estate. I help clients see beyond the surface details like fixtures and tiles, guiding them to appreciate the intricate design elements, natural light, and unique features that truly define a space.
Being a Real Estate Agent has become my favorite business, as it allows me to connect with and assist a diverse range of people. I immerse myself in every aspect of the process—from advising on interior design and coordinating renovations to staging and marketing properties. Each step is an opportunity to bring a client’s vision to life and create spaces that truly resonate. Working at ACME Real Estate, a boutique brokerage founded by Broker/CEO Courtney Poulos, has been an incredible experience. Surrounded by a talented, design-focused team, I’m able to offer my clients top-notch representation. Courtney’s keen eye for design trends and forward-thinking marketing strategies make ACME’s listings highly desirable and sought after across all of LA. I am constantly inspired by Courtney and the rest of the agents and love the collaborative environment.
My career hasn’t always been a smooth, direct route to success. Juggling a demanding job with caring for a young child often left me feeling behind and less accessible than my colleagues. It took a lot of effort to establish a winning schedule and implement systems that keep my business running efficiently. With my meticulous attention to detail and dedication to helping clients, I invest substantial time in each project. Now, with these systems in place, I can provide exceptional service, turning the process of buying and selling homes into meaningful experiences!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although I’m originally from the East Coast, after 18 years in LA, I’m proudly claiming my Angeleno status. Living and working in Culver City, I’ve come to know the Westside like the back of my hand but I’m always thrilled to find new exciting offerings all over the LA.
The morning should start with a stroll along Venice Beach, taking in the sea breeze and the eclectic energy of the boardwalk. For breakfast, you could choose between my two favorites, The Butcher’s Daughter, renowned for its plant-based delights, or Gjusta, a local favorite offering artisanal pastries and hearty fare.
Next, lace up your sneakers and head to the Culver Stairs for some invigorating exercise. The climb offers breathtaking views of the entire city!
Once you’ve conquered the stairs, explore Platform in Culver City. This concept space/ outdoor mall is perfect for boutique shopping and a casual lunch at Roberta’s or Juliet, both known for their delicious food and stylish decor. Nearby is the Helms Bakery Design District, where you can peruse high-design furniture and unique accessories at shops like HD Buttercup and Cisco Home.
As a designer and Real Estate Agent, I must insist on a tour of LA’s architectural marvels. Drive through Hancock Park, where you’ll find an array of stunning classical mansions and Craftsman homes, including exquisite examples by the renowned Greene brothers. A visit to the Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Park in East Hollywood—designed by Frank Lloyd Wright—is also essential for any architecture enthusiast.
As a sports family, an LA night isn’t complete without catching one of our many top teams. Head to Dodger Stadium to experience a quintessential LA baseball game, or catch a thrilling Lakers game at Crypto.com Arena. You can also make your way to Inglewood to check out the cutting-edge technology and futuristic design of SoFi Stadium for an amazing football experience.
After the game, unwind with a late dinner at Gjelina on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, for some LA inventive, farm-to-table cuisine. Cap off your day with a nightcap at The Tasting Kitchen or Townhouse in Venice. Both spots offer a stylish, relaxed atmosphere perfect for reflecting on your perfect day and planning your move to our beautiful City of Angeles!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to be inspired by countless individuals, each of whom has contributed to my growth in significant ways. However, one person who truly deserves a spotlight is my unwavering friend and colleague, Chase Burns Mosley.
Our paths crossed years ago at a different real estate brokerage, and when I left that brokerage, I was thrilled to discover that Chase would be joining ACME Real Estate too. Chase is more than just a colleague; she is a beacon of support and encouragement. Her warmth and charisma allow her to connect effortlessly with anyone she meets, and her honesty is as refreshing as it is valuable. She challenges me, keeps me accountable, and constantly pushes me.

Chase’s design instincts are nothing short of exceptional. Together, we stage our listings, and her keen eye for detail makes our collaborations both productive and enjoyable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her hosting the next big HGTV renovation show!
Her friendship, tireless work ethic and design prowess make Chase a standout in every sense. She truly deserves a heartfelt shoutout for all she brings to both our professional world and my life.
