The Best NELA Bars For a Fun Cocktail This Summer!

The weather is heating up and we know just the right spots to kick-off your summer with warm weather vibes, delicious cocktails, and Eastside style!

Echo Park – Sage Vegan Bistro Bar

The Sage Vegan Bistro expansion has finally arrived! Highly anticipated and long overdue for this area of Echo Park, Sage meets the demand for a neighborhood-friendly bar to grab a quick bite and a delicious cocktail before walking over to Echo Park Lake for a sunny afternoon in the park or back home to the hills of Elysian Park and Angeleno Heights! ACME personal favorites to quench that summer thirst include The Eastsider and The London Calling, with a must-have side of fried buffalo cauliflower hot wings!

Highland Park – Block Party

Outside summer vibes ring strong at this Highland Park neighborhood fave right on York Boulevard. Grab a hand-selected beer from the cooler where unique craft finds are always on rotation, split a bottle of rosé, or cool off with a popsicle-clad michelada! A shuffle board in the back will keep the fun rolling deep into the afternoon and picnic tables are perfect for parties and gatherings. Plus, who can pass up a modern hot dog stand (vegan and meat options)?! This place takes advantage of LA’s outdoor summer weather in a totally fun and hip way. YES, please!

Frogtown – Salazar

There’s one thing for sure about Salazar – there is always a wait. The great thing about the wait, aside from prolonged hunger, is the rad bar you can order from in the meantime as you hang out on the patio! Delicious drinks are certainly flowing. Be sure to try the La Paloma for a summer tart grapefruit cocktail with a kick, or the Verde for a fresh and tasty agua fresca on cocktail steroids! The colorful bar, old school classroom chairs, breezy vibes, and expertly flavored tacos don’t hurt, either.

Silver Lake – The Black Cat

You can never go wrong with a view of Sunset Junction accompanied by a choice of four different variations of the Moscow Mule for a Sunday-Funday in warm weather. Grab a seat on the limited patio where the vibes are always fun and the people watching is even better. Whether you add an app at The Black Cat or you grab a bite at its new next door neighbor, Mixed Company, there’s delicious food to consume before you stumble across the street to do some post-drinking shopping at The Odells!

Eagle Rock – Eagle Rock Brewery Public House

Rolled up garage doors on a sunny LA afternoon with tasty beer and food to pair it with, is a winning combination in our eyes. We’ve been fans of Eagle Rock Brewery since they started brewing up beers off of San Fernando Road years ago. But now that it comes with a swanky location on Colorado, we love it even more! From shrimp and grits to a pork hash, Sunday brunch never looked so good. Whether you love a zesty beer à la the Ginger Saison, a creamy Belgian (Manifesto), a strong IPA (Populist), or a tasty red sour ale (Yearling), they’ve got you covered. The beer lovers simply cannot go wrong here!
