CA Home + Design: TAKING AN EAGLE ROCK SPLIT-LEVEL TO THE NEXT LEVEL, $1.7M

California Home + Design features Courtney Poulos’ listing in Eagle Rock

Now redesigned by the L.A. architecture and interior design firm of Part Office for a small family– an art dealer, an avid cook and their two young children– this previously-generic 1963 home in Eagle Rock had been subjected to unsympathetic renovations over the decades, making it ripe for reinvention. The project scope was extensive, entailing a thoughtful reorganization of the entire plan, opening the kitchen to the family room and paving the entire main level in a pale Italian terrazzo, plus new ceiling heights, windows, and new baths.

Led by principals Jeff Kaplon and Kristin Korven, the firm’s work is deeply informed by Los Angeles itself and “…an empathy and appreciation of existing conditions, but also by highlighting inevitable contradictions with a thoughtful tension.”

What We Love: The Brady Bunch-meets-David Hockney vibe of the exterior, wrapping  an interior that looks back to Venice (CA) in the ‘70s with an adroit use of white walls and terrazzo flooring combined with construction-grade (and cost-effective) plywood.

The baths are exactly what you’d expect– crisp and impeccable and generic in the best possible way.
