Your saddest goodbye and your happiest hello. Yes, we’re talking about your bed… and what bed is complete without a headboard?

1. Keeping it Old School 

Historically, headboards served to isolate sleepers from drafts and cold in less insulated buildings,  were made of wood, which is less thermally conductive than stone or brick. Although we may no longer be suffering from such issues, a wooden headboard can still be a cute addition to your room. Wood is known to add a sense of warmth and earthiness, which may be exactly what your room is lacking.

2. Eye-Catching Art

Don’t know where to hang that cool piece of art you recently picked up? Hang it above your headboard! Although, you may think it’ll clutter the appearance of your room, the combination of a solid-colored headboard and piece of artwork will only give the illusion of a taller ceiling and take your bedroom decor to the next level.

3. Lots of Layers

‘Tone on tone” layering is a decorative technique that takes a single color and uses different saturation of that color throughout the room. The result is a room that can be dramatically transformed just by lightening or darkening of that color. “Tone on tone” can easily transform your room by getting a headboard to match the color of your walls and other furniture in your room.

4. A Pop of Color

Choosing a standout color for your headboard will help your bed serve as a focal point for your room and also ease the design process for you. Have the color of your headboard match the rest of your color scheme to help the entire room tie in together!
