ADDRESS: VILLA KURO
Inhale deeply — now exhale slowly. One more time — inhale deeply, exhale slowly. You see that? That moment of tranquility amidst the madness? Experience that on another level at Mini Inno’s Villa Kuro dwelling, deep in the Joshua Tree desert.
A 1962 mid-century ranch block house masterfully re-imagined awaits you, nestled amidst 3.6 acres of desert land. The moment you step foot in the compound you feel like you’re a million miles away from the outside commotion, despite being on a sparsely populated residential street six minutes from downtown Joshua Tree.
The indoor/outdoor flow is abundant, with sliding doors in every single room. Elevated on a hill enjoy views of the surrounding landscape and ancient boulder mountains abutting the property.
The simple sophistication of the design and the use of natural elements reflects the designer’s inspiration drawn from Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy which focuses on finding beauty in life’s imperfections and embracing life’s natural offerings and processes.
Beloved old world techniques such as tadelakt were employed to create subtle yet impressive textures on the wall surfaces and in the custom kitchen and bathrooms. The wood beams were sandblasted and the patina imitated through wood elements such as hand-carved floating wood shelves + cabinets doors and wicker pendants.
With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the villa is perfect for a group getaway for four, a dreamy weekend for two or a sweet escape for one.
Enjoy a deep soak in the hot tub under clear starry skies or bathe naked under the outdoor shower. Relinquish your stresses and reconnect with the beauty of the universe. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly – you can finally relax. Villa Kuro is here for you to book whenever you need to just breathe.
