How to decorate your home like a worldly traveler

Most people have a desire to show how well-traveled they are. It’s hard to do it with ease and without being pretentious, even in the home. When you’re tired of putting up globes and vintage maps, and need original ideas to inspire new travels or keep the memories of places you’ve been to, look no further…

Idea #1:  Stained glass windows, tables, mirrors or lamps. Shop in Spain, Italy, & Morocco for special pieces.

Idea #2: Rugs , rugs, rugs! Hand-woven and ethnic rugs are the best way to introduce culture to your home. My personal favorites are Ikat fabrics from Indonesia and vintage Cambodian fabrics.

Idea #3: There are never too many pillows. It is so great to add cultural diversity with them. I love fun Mexican and Peruvian patterns. They are bright and geometric.

Idea #4: Adding Spanish or Moroccan tiles to your bathroom, staircases, or kitchen, brighten up your space and make it lively and cozy.

Idea #5: I love using Kenyan Kiondo baskets for potted plants and as laundry baskets. They fit almost every aesthetic, are beautifully handmade, and also soften up your space.

Idea #6: Vintage posters from faraway places are great for hallways, libraries, and living room spaces. Or simply frame your travel photos.

Idea #7: Add a key furniture piece like a hand carved bed headboard. It becomes the focal point of any room.

Idea #8: Ceramics, pottery, and dishes. Who doesn’t love hand-painted plates and porcelain plates and cups from China?
