NEIGHBORHOOD OF CHOICE & WHY?
Mount Washington – we love the peace and quiet of the surroundings as well as the stunning views. The golden hour is breathtaking up here and with every turn up the hill the views get better and better. The elementary school is also well rated and we are hoping it’s a great fit for our kiddos when they are ready for kindergarten.
WHY ACME?
I loved the idea of personalized service from a boutique agency. We had met Silke at an open house a year prior to actually being ready to buy. When the time came to finally close on a property we knew she would get the job done for us.
WHAT SOLD YOU ON WORKING WITH SILKE?
Silke is wonderful! She listens to what you want and need but is also really good about telling you what will help you actually get an offer accepted in this crazy market. After losing 8 houses with another agent we needed someone who could make our offer more appealing than the others. Silke has great relationships with listing agents and is 100% confident in helping you write the strongest offer possible while still feeling comfortable in your decisions. We never felt pressured but were so grateful for her clear guidance.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE SILKE TO RECOMMEND HER TO A FUTURE CLIENT? Silke is equal parts beautiful and easy to be around as well as tenacious and fiercely honest. We are grateful we met an awesome agent and found a friend in the process.
WHAT WAS THE MOST EXCITING PART OF THE HOME BUYING PROCESS?
There are so many awesome, unique properties in our area; it’s tempting to look forever. But that feeling of finding “the one” and having an agent who’s skilled enough to help you write an offer that will get accepted is hard to beat.
WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF RENOVATING? THE MOST EXCITING?
My least favorite part of renovating was dealing with contractors. I would call our interior projects a success but I am still fixing problems that the contractor who did our yard left behind. The whole thing always seems to run off schedule and you always end up spending more than you think. Definitely set aside extra money in the budget to fix other people’s mistakes or for that splurge on fixtures at the end.
My favorite part of remodeling was finding a good balance of high/low finishes. We didn’t have the largest budget but we had a long wishlist and expensive taste. We tried to put together both affordable options as well as stylish splurges where we could fit them. People are always amazed by how much we were able to do on such a tight budget and how design forward it all turned out.
FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN YOUR NEW ‘HOOD?
Yolk and Flour! We were so happy when they opened and they are right at the bottom of our hill. A little bit further is Kitchen Mouse which we also love for brunch.
FAVORITE ROOM OR DETAIL IN YOUR HOME / REMODEL?
I’m obsessed with the wallpaper in our front bathroom. It was a bold choice but I think it is a perfect pop of color and personality in anotherwise mostly white house.
