Caffeine BUZZ: Coffee Tour of Echo Park!

Everyone knows the Eastside loves its coffee shops. So much so, that Echo Park has enough to satisfy its very own coffee tour. Here’s our take on the best of the best. If you’re looking to catch a serious caffeine buzz, try to hit all of them over the course of one weekend!

1. Eightfold Coffee

The first stop down Sunset, starting on the far East end of Echo Park is Eightfold Coffee. This is the newest shop on the block, and is designed with a fresh white aesthetic. Serving coffee beans from Heart Roasters in Portland, the beverages are always on point and the packaging of the beans is as equally aesthetically pleasing as the space. BONUS, they sell a wide variety of books from independent authors, art books, and zines. Located on the same block as designer boutique Ali Golden, as well as other shops with trendy jewelry, and vintage motorcycle digs, you’ll be enmeshed with the most up and coming block on the East Side!

2. Woodcat Coffee Bar

Next up is the adorably charming Woodcat Coffee Bar! This place was built by hand by its owners, making it full of good-hearted vibes and great energy. They roast exclusively from Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters out of San Francisco. Top notch drinks, delicious pastries from Sugar Bloom Bakery and Sugarbird Sweets, and a bustling vibe both inside and on its bench outdoors.

3. Blue Bottle

Blue Bottle has been making its way down the West Coast for awhile now, spreading through Los Angeles, and now finally landing in Echo Park. I think it’s safe to say, it was worth the wait! Sleek light wood exists throughout the space with modern globe lights and hanging string lights. No wi-fi here, which means you can take a break from work and just chat with friends, read a book, and enjoy the deliciousness that is Blue Bottle Coffee. They also feature a small food menu, our favorite being the poached eggs on toast. YUM!

4. Andante Coffee Roasters

If you continue traveling down Sunset Boulevard headed West in Echo Park, you will hit Andante Coffee Roasters. We were sad to see local favorite Hedgehog go a couple years ago, but we welcome Andante with open arms! In addition to a mean latte, they also serve a variety of Juice Served Here, to refuel and rejuvenate when the caffeine kick starts wearing off (or coming on too high).

5. Fix Coffee

Our final stop on the trip is up Echo Park Avenue, hidden away in the hills. Here, you will find Fix Coffee, which recently had a stunning facelift and expansion to offer an extensive menu of food and even beer! Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, this spot feels like a little hideaway. With both Sight Glass + Counter Culture on the brewer, you can get your Fix (pun intended) of the best in the business.

There certainly is no shortage of quality and variety in Echo Park, so take your pick… pour over, flat white, latte, straight up espresso, or whatever the next hip espresso bean roasted beverage might be. The Eastside is where it’s at, and Echo Park’s coffee scene surely adds to that!
